Our instructors are seasoned professionals in the trucking industry and understand the important work they are doing in training a new generation of truck drivers. It’s a responsibility they truly embrace.

T
he American Trucking Association recognized the week of September 11-17, 2022, as National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
“Americans in all fifty states have taken extraordinary steps to show their appreciation for the important work that professional truck drivers have done,” according to their website. “From children passing out lunches, to ‘I Heart Truck’ signs across America’s highways, the public has taken notice of the essential role truck drivers to play in their lives.”
At Dixie Tech, we offer courses for both Class A and Class B Commercial Driver’s Licenses. We have a special appreciation for truck drivers, and join with others across the nation in recognizing their important role in our country and community.
Our instructors are seasoned professionals in the trucking industry and understand the important work they are doing in training a new generation of truck drivers. It’s a responsibility they truly embrace.
“I grew up on farms around tractors and equipment, and spent many years in the construction and trucking industry, and have loved operating equipment and driving trucks,” said Heber Holm, a Commercial Driver’s License instructor at Dixie Tech. “There is nothing in our world from food and clothing to computers and cars that has not been transported in a truck! To be a part of the vital industry that transports all of these things is exciting to me, and the need to train skilled, safe professional drivers is rewarding and one of the most important and urgent needs in the world.”
Truck drivers keep our supply chain rolling and our entire country moving forward. Nearly all aspects of our lives are made possible because of the goods and resources being delivered every day by truck drivers.
As National Truck Driver Appreciation Week comes to a close for 2022, be sure to thank a truck driver and show your appreciation for these hard-working men and women who play such a vital role in our society.
But because of the current shortage of Medical Assistants in this area, our instructors instead decided to invite industry partners on campus to meet the current cohort of students. These Medical Assisting students had the opportunity to interview with multiple clinics in a casual, career-fair type environment.
Instructor Mindi Short commented, “This was a great forum for clinics to come to our campus and see the students and how they interact in the classrooms and labs. We had great feedback from the clinics, and they cannot wait to come again!”
