“We are so pleased with the expansion of the Automotive Program and very pleased that we were able to hire Bill Vair,” said Jordan Rushton, Interim President of Dixie Technical College. “Bill brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will benefit our students and industry partners.”
Bill Vair has had his hands dirty working on anything with an engine from the time he could first hold a wrench and a screwdriver. Bill formally began his career in the automotive industry by enrolling in the associate’s degree automotive technology program at SUNY Morrisville after high school.
After completing the program at SUNY Morrisville, Bill worked in the automotive industry at an independent repair shop, a General Motors dealership, and was a small business owner of an independent repair shop.
In 2009, Bill was privileged to be hired as an instructor of the automotive technology program at his alma mater, SUNY Morrisville. During his years teaching in the program, Bill pursued additional higher education and completed a bachelor’s degree in automotive technology and a master’s degree in information design and technology.
Throughout his years in the automotive industry, as both a technician and a teacher, Bill has achieved many additional aftermarket and original equipment manufacturer professional development trainings and maintained an ASE Master Technician certification.
Bill encourages all who are interested in the automotive industry to pursue a career in this field. Bill often says, “If you are willing to be a lifelong learner and you are passionate about the automotive industry, there is a place in the automotive field for you.”
We are thrilled to have Bill on the team at Dixie Tech. He will help us continue to fulfill our mission of training students to master essential skills they will take directly to the workforce
