Hands on Opportunities in the Practical Nursing Program
Practical Nursing students were given the opportunity to work as the medical response team for the EPSON Tour Road to the LPGA, Copper Rock Golf Championship.
A
t Dixie Technical College students spend less time in the classroom and more time working hands-on in the lab, mastering the skills needed to advance or begin their career.
The Practical Nursing program is just one example of students that get to learn and enhance their skills through participation in real world experiences.
Over the weekend, all 18 of the Practical Nursing students were given the opportunity to work as the medical response team for the EPSON Tour Road to the LPGA, three day Copper Rock Golf Championship.
Led by instructors Brenna Thomas and Micki Wells, the students watched and provided medical care for all of the athletes competing in the tournament.
Alongside representing the school during this international level tournament, the students were able to learn skills in professionalism and interaction with patients.
They were given the real world experience and opportunity to learn career based skills that are not typically taught inside of a classroom.
