What You Will Learn In The Automotive Technician Program
Provides theory, diagnosis, and service common to all automotive internal combustion engines. Includes engine rebuilding and performance testing. This course prepares students for ASE Certification Test on Engine Repair.
Automotive Brake Systems
Provides the theory, diagnosis, and repair of automotive brake systems, and a study of disc and drum brake systems. The course covers anti-lock brakes, hydraulic operation, and brake system service, diagnosis, and repair. Prepares students for ASE Certification Test on Brakes.
Transmission and Drivetrain
Provides theory, diagnosis, and service of clutches, driveline, synchro transmissions and final drives. Includes standard transaxles and 4-wheel drive. Prepares students for ASE Certification Test on Manual Drive Train, and Certification Test on Automatic Transmissions/Transaxle.
Steering and Suspension Systems
Provides the theory, diagnosis, and repair of automotive steering and suspension systems. This in-depth study includes tires and wheels, wheel balancing, two and four-wheel alignment, and diagnostic and service techniques. Prepares students for ASE Certification Test on Steering and Suspension Systems.
Engine Performance and Drivability
Provides instruction in diagnostic procedures for driveability concerns on automotive vehicles. Includes an in-depth study of modern ignition, fuel, and power train computer-controlled systems. Gives the student the opportunity to use industry standard testing equipment such as PC-based scopes and hand-held scanners.

About Your Automotive Technician Instructors
John Busselberg graduated from the UTI Automotive, Diesel and Industrial Program in 2005 and the International Technician Education Program (ITEP) in the same year. He is a Certified Mitsubishi Fuso Technician and a Certified Ford Auto Diesel Technician.
He worked for three years at Lake City Trucks specializing in the International Trucks and Mitsubishi Fuso product lines, for 10 Years at St. George Ford, and for two years as the fleet manager for Washington City. He has been a small business owner specializing in diesel performance for 13 years. His experience made him an excellent fit for Dixie Tech, and he joined the faculty in 2020. John says that “The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing the progression of an individual in an industry that I love.”
Ryan Jacobs comes to us with 30 plus years of experience in the automotive industry as a lead technician
service manager and auto shop owner. He also taught automotive at Hurricane High school for the past
5 years. He has achieved A.S.E master technician status for 25 years.
He also holds Ford senior master technician status, as well as Honda silver certified, Chrysler silver certified, Saturn tech 2, G.M., and Mazda certifications.
