Program Overview

Learn more about our Accredited Drafting and Design program

Drafting and Design allows students to focus on Architectural or Mechanical Drafting using a variety of industry-standard software including AutoCAD, REVIT, SKETCH-UP, Solid Works, and various 3D rendering programs. Students take their own ideas, design them and create a full set of construction or manufacturing documents.

Each student is required to complete a final project displaying the full gambit of their skill sets as a portfolio to share with potential employers.

As a student of this program, you will:

    • Learn the fundamentals of hand drafting.
    • Learn to accurately read and interpret architectural and mechanical prints.
    • Learn engineering terminology and symbols.
    • Master the skills to create accurate drawings for production, including all appropriate details according to industry standards.

    Drafting and Design

     

    The Drafting and Design program provides you with the skills to create mechanical and architectural drawings for an entry level drafter position with a professional firm. The program also provides a solid foundation for further education in engineering or architecture. A variety of industry standard computer programs are used.

    Term 1

    CORE DRAFTING COURSES (10 CREDIT HOURS)

    DRFT 1110: Technical Drafting – 3 credit hours

    DRFT 1120: Workplace Success – 1 credit hour

    DRFT 1130: Applied Technical Math – 1 credit hour

    DRFT 1140: Advanced Technical Drafting – 3 credit hours

    DRFT 1150: Fundamentals of Architectural Drafting – 2 credit hours

    ARCHITECTURAL TRACK (OPTION A : 20 CREDIT HOURS)

    DRFT 2010A: Architectural Print Reading – 1 credit hour

    Accuplacer may be waived with proof of:

    • Equivalent ACT/SAT scores.
    • College classes (MATH 900 or above and ENGLISH 1000 or above) with a ‘B-‘ grade or above.
    • Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.

    Cost of Accuplacer test: $15
