Program Overview
Learn more about our Advanced Emergency Medical Technician program
The Advanced EMT (AEMT) program expands the knowledge and skills gained in the EMT program through advanced training in emergency interventions and care. AEMTs are a vital part of a coordinated emergency response system, bridging the gap between an accident scene and the hospital.
Students will enhance their assessment skills, learn to administer IV fluids and certain medications, manage respiratory distress with advanced airway adjuncts, and hone their ability to stabilize and transport critical patients. Coursework covers trauma, cardiac, pediatric, geriatric, and medical emergencies along with enhancing communication and documentation skills. Graduates play a critical role getting patients the emergency care they need in those crucial minutes between incident and the hospital.
