The NA program at Dixie Tech prepares students for entry into professional nursing as a Certified Nurse Assistant or CNA. This is the gateway through which anyone interested in a nursing career must pass. Kindness and compassion are unstated prerequisites for the program which is fast-paced with lots of hands-on learning opportunities. The program at Dixie Tech prepares students to take the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) exam to become recognized as a CNA. Graduates have the opportunity to work in a broad variety of environments from hospitals to home-health to long-term care facilities in many aspects of patient care. You may pursue this as a career step to advance in the nursing field, but it is also a rewarding career in itself, enabling you to find joy in caring for those who can no longer care for themselves.

Essential nursing skills for obtaining vital signs and assisting residents with activities of daily living.
Basic introduction to the body systems and how they work.
Students will go over proper communication will be used with residents you’re taking care of, as well as other members of the healthcare team.
An introduction to becoming part of the healthcare team and the important roles and responsibilities a CNA has on this team.
Learn all of the required skills & knowledge outlined by the state of Utah to be prepared to eventually test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Kristin enjoyed growing up in sunny California. She moved to Lexington, Kentucky to attend college for her nursing degree. Kristin began her career working in the trauma department at the University of Kentucky hospital. Her teaching career began in the Nurse Aid program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College. Kristin, her husband, and her son moved to St. George in 2019 where they now happily reside.
