Taught in an ASE Education Foundation certified shop using official ASE curriculum, students in Dixie Tech’s Diesel Technician program develop current industry standard practices and skills to launch careers as diesel mechanics.
Through hands-on training on real diesel vehicles and equipment, graduates gain competency troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing engines, drivetrains, suspension, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and all components needed to become professional diesel technicians.

TEDT 1600: Engines I – 4 credit hours
TEDT 1200: Steering and Suspension – 4 credit hours

Advanced Diesel Tech Courses (17 credit hours)
TEDT 1700: Hydraulics – 5 credit hours
TEDT 1110: Electrical II – 5 credit hours
TEDT 1300: Brakes – 5 credit hours
TEDT 1800: Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) – 1 credit hour
TEDT 1610: Engines II – 4 credit hours
TEDT 1500: Preventative Maintenance I – 4credit hours

Tuition & Fees must be paid before registering for class unless a payment plan or other funding options have been approved and signed. Information is subject to change without notice.
Tuition is waived for High-School students, however they are still responsible for course fees and additional costs.

Accuplacer may be waived with proof of:
- Equivalent ACT/SAT scores taken within the past 5 years.
- College classes (MATH 900 or above and ENGLISH 1000 or above) with a ‘B-‘ grade or above taken within the past 5 years.
- Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.
Cost of Accuplacer Test: $15
Education Verification
Provide a copy of one of the following: High School Diploma, High School Transcript showing graduation date, GED, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.
High-school students can sign up for an Accuplacer Test or provide qualifying ACT/SAT test score results.

Application Review
After successfully completing and submitting the above requirements, the College will perform an application review. Students will be emailed regarding thier acceptance status.

Our industry-leading instructors, equipped with years of experience and knowledge, are prepared to mentor and guide the next generation of Diesel Technicians.

Brandon Tucker
Brandon earned certification through the Diesel Systems technology program at Salt Lake Community College and went on to work as a service manager at Ahern Rentals. While there, he gained expertise in a wide range of engines, including Kubota’s construction and small agriculture equipment. He also worked as regional technical support for Kubota.

Joshua Jones
Joshua graduated with an Associates degree in Automotive Mechanics in 2014. He has worked in private fleets and local dealerships, gaining experience in both auto and diesel mechanics. He is eager to contribute to the education and growth of the next generation of technicians.

Robert Nelson
Robert Nelson started his career working in his family’s trucking company at an early age. He has gained experience in many positions of the trade including over-the-road trucking, diesel dealership service & repair, and as a foreman for a large excavation company. Robert Joined the faculty at Dixie Technical College in 2018.

Shawn Bain
Shawn Bain has worked with diesel engines, heavy equipment operation, equipment maintenance, welding, and collision repair. His career has always involved working on challenging equipment with his mind and hands. His expertise is a valuable insight and guidance for the next generation of diesel technicians.
