Become A Machinist
The Precision Machining Program prepares students for great careers as machinists. Machinists are highly skilled operators that fabricate finished goods from a wide variety of materials. Students will learn to machine parts with high precision through the use of blueprints, sketches, or their own designs. Students begin training on manual lathes, mills, before moving into basic mechanical drafting, then learn to program and operate a CNC Machine.

What You Will Learn In The Precision Machining Program
Machining Fundamentals
Students will be introduced to Inspection tools (caliper, micrometer, height gage) and Manual Machines (mills, lathes, horizontal band-saw).
CNC Principles
A few of the principles students will learn are: Intuit programming, Renishaw optical part probe use, CNC mill, CNC lathe safety, setup of tools, manual programming from drawing exercises, and setup and run part.
Shop Safety
Shop Safety is the most important thing in the machining industry, so we take safety very seriously. Students will learn about safety precautions and rules.
CNC Production
Setup and run CNC production-type parts, build fixtures, and run multiple parts of the same type. Students will learn CAD / CAM basics.
